we work.
Whether you're renovating a single kitchen, building a custom home from foundation up, or developing a hundred-unit residential project — Planar provides the millwork drawings and design coordination to keep the cabinet shop building, not asking.

Answers,
before you ask.
Do you build the cabinets, or just design them?
We only design and document. Once drawings are complete, you take them to any qualified Calgary cabinet maker — or we can recommend shops we've worked alongside. Separating design from production means you're free to bid the build out, and you avoid the markup most cabinet shops apply to in-house drawings.
How is this different from working with an interior designer?
Interior designers handle the whole room — paint, flooring, lighting, furniture, and millwork as part of the brief. We do one thing: millwork. That means deeper drawings, more accurate specifications, and pricing focused on what cabinet shops actually need. Many designers hire us as a sub-consultant for the millwork portion.
What software do you use?
Mozaik for cabinet engineering, SketchUp + Enscape for 3D visualisation, AutoCAD for shop drawings, and Revit for new-build BIM coordination. Calgary shops can open and modify everything we produce without translation.
How long does a typical project take?
A single kitchen runs four to six weeks from discovery call to production-ready drawings. Whole-home or new build packages range from eight to twelve weeks. Multi-family packages depend on unit count and revision rounds — typically six to ten weeks for design, then ongoing support through the build.
What do I need to start?
For renovations: a rough sketch or Pinterest board, your address, and a budget range. For new builds: architectural drawings (CAD or PDF). For developers: floor plans and a target unit count. We'll cover the rest on the discovery call.
Tell us about your project.
30 minutes on a discovery call. We'll talk through scope, budget, and timeline — and tell you honestly whether Planar is the right fit.
